When the Europeans in the Americas, Europe, and Australasia were touting eugenics as a basis for removing black people, weaker humans, poor people, criminals, deformed and disabled people, and people with mental deformities from society as a means to create superior human beings with superior abilities and no defects, little did they know the end of those ideas and practices. What occurred in America and the UK under eugenics, and what occurred in Africa and Australia against Black people under slavery, colonial rule, Jim Crow, and racism, was amplified in Germany under Hitler.
In his book, Mein Kampf, Hitler referred to eugenics in America to support his view of the need to purify humanity by removing all people who were born deformed as well as the poor, the gypsy, the drunkard, the criminal, homosexuals, and non-Aryans (non-Europeans). By killing the mentally and physically deformed under the Nazi Euthanasia Program, Hitler meant to cleanse the “Aryan” race of genetically defective people who were also financial burdens to society.
Heinrich Luitpold Himmler led the SS (Secret Police of the Nazi government) to kill millions of Jews, political opponents, sick, and mentally deranged people in concentration camps. All people who were deemed as socially misfit were thrown into concentration camps to kill them and “purge Germany” into a pure superhuman Aryan race. Himmler was a devout Catholic.
During the Nuremberg trials that were held between 1945 to 1946 to prosecute the members of the Nazi regime and their crimes, many of these soldiers referred to the eugenics laws in America that forcefully sterilized racial minorities, criminals, mentally disabled people, etc. as no different from what they also did. Although they were found guilty, their arguments were tenable because what they did was only an amplification of the same crimes committed by America and other Europeans under eugenics.
Hitler believed that non-Aryans, including Jews and gypsies, were tainting the European blood and had to be cleared from the world to ensure a pure racial blood of Europeans in the world. Based on this ideology, he proceeded to systematically enact laws that gave him the power to remove all such classes of people from society and place them in concentration camps. These laws were passed in Nuremberg in 1935 and were called the Nuremberg Race Laws.
After passing these laws, all Jews lost their citizenship. They were immediately thrown out of all government employment and their businesses, homes, and synagogues were attacked and looted: this was called the Kristallnacht or the night of broken glass because of the broken glasses that lined the streets in its aftermath. These laws were applied to Austria, Sudetenland, and all areas under Nazi control. Hundreds of Jews died from these attacks, others committed suicide, and many were raped or humiliated in public.
You see, Satan had always wanted to eliminate Jews. He tried to do so in the time of Queen Esther and Mordecai under the Medo-Persian Empire through Haman (Esther 4-7). However, God intervened through Queen Esther and saved the Jews. After they turned down Christ and chose Barrabas and Caesar, they were now left without protection, and Hitler, instead of Haman, had his way under Satan’s direction.
The Final Solution
The next day after Kristallnacht, the SS and Gestapo then marched more than 30,000 Jews into prisons and later, into concentration camps in Dachau, Buchenwald, Auschwitz, Sobibor, etc. The Nazi government, in order to avoid paying insurance on the destroyed homes, businesses, and synagogues, blamed the Jews for these attacks and rather levied a hefty sum on them to pay. They also seized all their insurance money, leaving them burdened with debt.
Subsequently, all Jews were banned from attending theatre, going to school in Germany, owning a driver’s license or a car. When the German public looked on these atrocities with little remonstrance and other nations failed to take in all these Jews, the Nazi regime were emboldened to commit more atrocities. Kristallnacht was the turning point. Remember, prior to this, Hitler had already killed all political opponents, mentally deranged people, criminals, homosexuals, drunkards, the deformed or the disabled, etc. because they were racially impure and unfit to live and pollute the German race.
Now, the Jews were being gathered into different concentration camps across Germany and Poland. A relatively few Jews emigrated to North America, but most of them were trapped in Europe. Wherever Hitler conquered more lands, the Jews there were arrested, stripped of all their clothes, money, belongings, etc. and thrown into trains that drove them to concentration camps to be killed. The Germans had already perfected these concentration camps and human experiments in Namibia.
At these concentration camps, Josef Mengele (aka the Angel of death), who was also a Catholic, used the Jews to perform a lot of medical experiments. In all these surgeries, he never used anaesthesia, making his victims go through intense pain. From cutting pregnant women up alive to see how the baby grew in the womb to cutting open the head, cutting through the eyes, or cutting the stomach open to see the liver, kidneys, heart, intestines, etc., he subjected his victims to the worst forms of death. After the War, he was assisted by fellow SS and Catholics (Catholic priests and the Vatican through underground tunnels called ratlines) into Catholic Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil. He died by drowning there without facing justice!
After experimenting on them, they were left to shriek in horror and die in cold blood. Those not experimented on were gassed to death in gas chambers before being burnt in hot ovens with the bodies of those used in the experiments. In other concentration camps, thousands of Jews were led like sheep into large rooms and pushed into burning fire where they died alive in the hot flames. Survivors recounted the horrifying screams and cries of those thrown into these hot fires🔥. In all, 6 million Jews perished among 11 million people purged from the earth for being socially unfit to live.
Eugenics began as a science to create perfect and good-blood humans, it ended up killing innocent millions. The horrifying deaths, torture, humiliation, inhumanity, and pain that the victims of Josef Mengele, Himmler, Goebbels, and Hitler went through, we shall never know by the greatest stretch of our imagination. When men are filled with evil spirits, there’s no length they can’t go to destroy one another. Yet, many of these Nazi leaders were devout Catholics, and Hitler only rose to power after the Pope signed a Concordat with him and the Catholic Centre Party supported the Nazi’s in parliarment!
After World War II and its atrocities, eugenics as a science began to die away. When it was being used to kill and suppress Black people, no one cared until it was unleashed on Europeans and Jews by Hitler. The suffering of humiliation of Africans was unleashed in all its fury and horrors in Europe: then the world sat up! This realization of the effects of eugenics, euthanasia, and racism after World War II, accelerated the desire among colonized and suppressed Black people in Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States to be free.
Strict ethical principles were consequently established to guide medical experiments involving humans and animals. Yet, the Tuskegee syphilis study occurred in America with black men (more on this in another article). Forced sterilization continued in many countries until recently (to be discussed thoroughly in the next article).
The evils of eugenics and euthanasia (killing someone as a means to end his pain, suffering, disease, etc.) have been shown, but more is yet to come as we now turn to forced sterilizations…Happy Sabbath to all!
