Like any other day it was, when they approached the cities in the plain. On their right was a sign pointing to Bela (Zoar), to their left were Admah and Zeboiim, and ahead were the twin cities of Gomorrah and Sodom.
Around and within these 5 cities were rivers, streams, springs, and lakes, reflecting the Sun’s light and supporting the growth of several diverse, unique, and exotic flowers, trees, gardens, and fruits that attracted birds and insects of every colour and hue. Filling the air with sweet songs, enchanting fragrance, calming ambience, and a cool atmosphere…

On this beautiful landscape, alters soaked with the blood of sacrificed humans, were scattered about. There were also a lot of pagan temples that housed vestal virgins. In these temples, the hearts of men were eaten and their bodies were burnt to lifeless idols. The vestal virgins were used as sexual instruments and sexual immorality was deified. In the streets of Sodom and Gomorrah, it was common to see spilled blood and murdered bodies, semen, empty and broken alcohol bottles, and aborted foetus yet to be collected for burning to the gods. By the graffiti-painted walls and corners, hordes of naked men, women, and kids with tattooed and pierced skin, were busily smooching each other, kissing and enjoying intimacy in the open with reckless abandon…
Lying about were the drunken, drug-overdosed, raped, and those weakened by over-partying and sexual debauchery. Waiting for friends to carry them home…until they gather again at night for another round of gay. The police station and courts had been defunded and burnt down. There was no law or order, and the signboard read: “Welcome to Sodom and Gomorrah, the cities of the free and elite”

Sickened by this site, Lot, the holy one, always sat outside the city to enjoy the beauty of nature. During one of these outings, he saw the strangers approach. Well did he know the doom that awaited them. He importuned (begged) them to abide with him for the night in order to shield them, but they had been seen and targeted already. At night, the mob gathered to feast on the newbies; they despised Lot’s daughters and bayed for his blood. In the ensuing commotion between Lot and the mob, the strangers pulled Lot inside the house and struck the mob with blindness.
They asked Lot to rush through the city and bring his other children. Sadly, his daughters mocked him as a madman and refused to follow him out of the city. Lot became hesitant and confused. Rushing him out with his family, the Angels escorted them from the plain. They told Lot, his wife, and two daughters to run and not look back. As soon as Lot and his family were outside the city and running towards the plain, fire mingled with brimstone, fell on the five cities from Heaven. The five cities were immediately vaporized into oblivion, filling the atmosphere with a mushroom of smoke. This is the future of this ageing Earth and the end thereof.

To this day, these plains, on the borders of Jordan and Israel, are a wilderness. No springs, lakes, rivers, or shrubs can be seen, but dusts of sulphur that still burn when ignited with matches. Shall we perish in the inferno or be saved with Lot and Abraham? The choice is ours. The sun has set again, and another Sabbath is here, yet we know not when we or this earth shall be visited by God’s angels and His judgments…
