One of the most heinous crimes of history, occurred in the Congo in 1961. Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of the DRC, who led and got independence for the Congo from Belgium in 1960, was caught by Belgium- and CIA (USA)-backed rebels of Katanga. Aiding them was the then Chief of Defence Staff, Mobutu Sese Seko. Patrice Lumumba was summarily killed by firing squad, butchered into pieces under the watch of Belgian soldiers, and dissolved in sulphuric acid. A Belgian soldier took out one of his teeth, and that’s the only remains left of him.
What was his crime? None. For many years, the people of Congo had been subjected to the most barbaric forms of slavery under Belgian colonial rule. King Leopold of Belgium forcefully enslaved the local people and made them grow and harvest rubber (under chains and other inhumane conditions) that were used to make car tyres in Europe. They were forced to mine iron, copper, cobalt, uranium, and other minerals for making weapons and machinery for World War I and II, including the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
After Lumumba took power from the Belgians, the former colonial powers quickly fostered ethnic rebellion among the Katangees and drenched the new country in civil war. Alarmed, Lumumba sought for help from the USA and the UN, but they refused to help him. In desperation, he turned to the Russians for help…and that was his crime under the Cold War. Under pretense of joining the communists, the Belgians and Americans engineered his overthrow and painful death (at 35 years). The DR Congo has never known peace since then…even as I write, rebels are raging, killing, and driving millions of people away from the Eastern side of the country.
It is the preachers of civil and human rights, who committed this crime, not the Arabs or Russians. It is they, who fought in a civil war to free enslaved Africans in Southern United States. Yes, it is they, who killed Abraham Lincoln for ending slavery and defeating the Southern Confederate states in the civil war. Are the Russians, Chinese and Muslim world innocent then? No. Alexei Navalny, Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, the politician Leon Trotsky and many other political dissenters were killed by Russian leaders for nothing but their dissent. Uyghur Muslims are being sterilized forcefully, kept in concentration camps, and killed without any help. Millions of African slaves were sterilized, maimed, tortured, killed, or eventually died under their brutal Arabian masters. The Arabian slave trade was worse in its atrocity than that of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
John F. Kennedy was killed for pulling American soldiers from Vietnam and ending the barbaric treatment of Vietnamese Buddhists under the US-backed government of Vietnam. How long did it take the Western world to intervene and prevent millions of Africans from torture, death and dehumanization under Apartheid and the Rwandan civil war?
Should we be quick to denounce so-called “conspiracy theories” suggesting that certain diseases such as HIV and COVID-19 were man-made? Was it not recently publicized by a former agent (Alexander Jones) of the erstwhile Apartheid government in South Africa that he and others were contracted to spread HIV among Black South Africans? Is it not common knowledge that the COVID-19 virus escaped from the laboratory in Wuhan? Is it not public knowledge, that advanced countries have biological weapons developed from Anthrax, smallpox, etc. with which they can destroy their enemies? Is it not history, that the British and Americans actually used smallpox (through infected blankets) to decimate the red Indian and Aboriginal populations of America and Australia respectively in order to defeat them? What about the secret sterilization of red Indians in America and Innuits in Greenland (by the Danish government) to reduce their population?
Between 1932-1972 in Tuskegee, 600 black men were used as “guinea pigs” to study Syphilis’ development without their knowledge. Sadly, this study was undertaken by the US government. I have been particularly intrigued by the theory that HIV was obtained by hunters eating apes and monkeys infected by SIV (the monkey form of HIV); that the wounds of these hunters were infected by the spilled blood of these animals. Yet, I am yet to hear that apes and monkeys are dying from SIV in Africa. Or that some hunters have gotten HIV by eating these animals, because they are still being hunted and eaten anyway. Why is it not stated in medical books that eating apes can give HIV or it was just a one-time event?
Friends, we are living in an evil world ruled by evil. News of domestic violence resulting in the murder of women and kids splash our screens daily. A man recently shot his friend for refusing him palm wine. What is wrong with humanity? The human heart🫀 is “desperately wicked, who can know it” (Jeremiah 17:9). Everything shows that we are living on the edge of Earth’s destruction and “because iniquity shall abound, the love of many, shall wax cold.” The Spirit of God is deserting the Earth as occurred in Noah’s day (Gen 6:3, 5-7).
As we rest from our labours on this Holy Sabbath, may God renew our hearts and fill us with His Holy Spirit, that we shall be merciful and kind, forgiving and humane. May God sanctify us and bless us, even as He sanctified and blessed the Sabbath. Shalom.
